There seems to be this bizarre need nowadays for folk to give their children "unique" names. They very often give no consideration as to whether those names might cause their kids problems in school or the job market.
It seems particularly prevalent in certain countries too. I notice it most when I watch something like the Olympics. Some of the athletes' names (from mostly English speaking nations) are really odd to me.
