@0x56 Now that our kids are grown and gone, we've been known to buy pre-cooked turkey or just a turkey breast. It's a lot of work for just two people!

@paxterrarum - the problem is that I love to cook, but good gravy had always eluded me... It's my Elenore, my unicorn, my white whale

@0x56 Two of those references I understand... Googling Elenore now... ;-)

@Mauve_matelot Though she has the 'proper' spelling so I can't mistake her for a muscle car!

@0x56 @paxterrarum

@stueytheround @0x56 @Mauve_matelot When I Googled it, I learned that the Mustang in the movie is named "Eleanor," but what's a vowel or two?

@stueytheround @paxterrarum @0x56 there are so many variations of spelling. I will contribute history of the name later

I an off to bed as I have breakfast shift at work tomorrow and 6 1/2 hours till my alarm goes off

@0x56 @paxterrarum @stueytheround Common hypocorisms include Ella, Ellie, Elly(etc.), Leonor, Leonora, Leonore, Leanora, Lenora, (etc.) Nell, Nella, Nellie, Nelly, Nelda, Nelle, (etc.), Nora(h), Noor, Noreen, Norene, Nonie (etc.)

The most recent song about Eleanor is Eleanor Put Your Boots On g.co/kgs/W1A8R7. The first mention is 11th Century.

The name Eleanor has roots in Greek and French. There are many strong women in with derivative names who inspire me such as
Ella Josephine Baker, an African-American civil rights and human rights activist. She was a largely behind-the-scenes organizer whose career spanned more than five decades. She worked alongside some of the most famous civil rights leaders of the 20th century, including W. E. B.

@stueytheround @0x56 @paxterrarum The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights is named after a brilliant, Black hero of the civil rights Freedom Movement who inspired and guided emerging leaders. We build on her legacy by building the power of poor people to create solutions for one of the biggest drivers of injustice today: mass incarceration.Ms. Baker was involved with the NAACP, Martin Luther King's Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee

@paxterrarum @0x56 @stueytheround today I discovered 2 new things, Artist Leonora Carrington OBE (6 April 1917 – 25 May 2011) was an English-born Mexican artist, surrealist painter, and novelist. She lived most of her adult life in Mexico City, and was one of the last surviving participants in the Surrealist movement of the 1930s. Carrington was also a founding member of the Women’s Liberation Movement in Mexico during the 1970s. The other is the origin of the variation in the screenshot.

@stueytheround @0x56 @paxterrarum my final showcase of famous namesakes Nellie Davis Tayloe Ross (November 29, 1876 – December 19, 1977) was an American politician, the 14th Governor of Wyoming from 1925 to 1927 and director of the United States Mint from 1933 to 1953. She was the first woman to be sworn in as governor of a U.S. state, and remains the only woman to have served as governor of Wyoming.
