Ice flowers, Norway
Some ice flowers resemble miniature snowflakes, while others unfurl like delicate lace, each one a unique masterpiece sculpted by nature. While captivating to the eye, ice flowers play a vital role in the arctic ecosystem. They provide crucial habitat for microorganisms and algae, forming the base of the food chain for larger marine life. They also influence gas exchange between the ocean and atmosphere, impacting global climate processes.

I remember a winter trip coming back to Fairbanks and driving by Kluane Lake in the Yukon. it was covered in ice flowers…and then a light breeze came up, and the most delicate sounds ensued…it was like the lake was singing.
