@Lulz4l1f3
I don't believe that was the result of the vote. It was to move the deadline for funding the govt. for FY 2024 for 45 days.

I believe most of the Congress are still committed to Ukraine funding and likely will provide it.

I am very relieved, as we all are, that a midnight shutdown has been averted.

But think of all the difficulty and stress needed to push a routine annual fiscal deadline 45 days down the road.

And virtually all the work required by the Congress to fund the govt for another year remains to be done.

This rarely happens and only when Republicans are running one of the houses of Congress.

My conclusion is that Republicans cannot govern.

@Idissent yes. But even with a few clowns, common sense rules would prevent this.

Do we finally all understand,

after Tuberville and now Bennet

that a single Senator should not be allowed to derail the wishes of the entire body?

The obviously archaic, certainly undemocratic, and amazingly stupid Senate rules MUST be overhauled.

And how do these guys get elected that are so self-centered and clueless?

Yes, I've already decided on my vote. The other major candidate is a very wealthy businessman, 68 yo white guy.

Btw, if my present guy (Cardin) wasn't retiring, I'd be voting against him in the primary anyway. He's done a good job. But I want a younger generation and a more diverse one in charge of our government.

Doing my part for a fresh governing perspective and a better America.

My Senator is number 5 on the Senate list, but he's retiring. And I will vote for a 52 yo black woman to succeed him.

She has a very good record as a County Executive. Also a chance to make the Senate a bit younger and more diverse was attractive to me.

Sadly too many white, male baby boomers running for reelection will have major funding advantages over their challengers.

Sadness in America. The functioning of the Executive Branch of our govt. depends on one man.

The Speaker can quickly fund the govt. with Dem. support. Afterall, he's the Speaker of the whole House.

But McCarthy is a soulless coward who values his own powerful title and big office more than our govt. and it's workers. 😧

I never thought in my whole life I'd see a headline like this in America. And this isn't the only one or the worst one.

What's happened to my country?

Regarding all the commercials: If they truly want pets to be loved and adopted, they need to make their healthcare less expensive. Upon retirement, you can barely afford your own. It wasn't always that way, our dogs growing up were hearty and vet visits few and reasonably priced.

@LnzyHou
I remember them well. Never a broken bone. It's a mystery why not. 😀

@IronButterfly I make it a practice, every day, to notice something - anything - about the people I encounter. I might say, "I love your earrings" or "that's a great t-shirt" or "it's so nice that you were kind to that kid" ... anything at all. To see the smiles and faces light up lets me know people are hungry to be noticed and appreciated. Makes it easier to keep doing it! On days when I'm feeling down, it's especially valuable because it lifts me up, too.

OMG. Menendez said the gold bars and cash were for "emergency use"?????

Like what? Fleeing the country before you get your ass tossed into jail.

Dems better hop on tossing him out before this clown's actions boomerang back on them.

For those, like me, who get depressed over the news of the day, here is your daily spirituality quote:

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”

@Marlowe2
Unfortunately, I think you can truncate your question after "understand". And the answer is "no".

(I'm sorry. I couldn't resist). ☹️ 🙂

Hey New York Times,

You wanna know why the polls show Americans are "down" on Biden but Dems keep winning elections? I'll tell you.

1. Because the alternative to Dems is Republicans.And the country now knows Republicans are fascists who want to outlaw abortion.

2. Because the polls are misleading, inaccurate and just wrong.

Stop trying to entice readers and just tell us the truth of what's going on.

@wyrmeboi
I believe Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has called for resignation today also.

What bullshit, CNN.

The JCS Chairman took careful steps to thwart the dangerous, illegal, unconstitutional actions of an incompetent POTUS while managing to avoid getting fired.

When you call that "political" and "controversial", I don't' think you understand what those words actually mean.

The man's a patriot with impeccable integrity, which cannot be said of his boss.
