When Ford pardoned Nixon, he didn’t help the nation heal. He let the cancer take root. #politics
@countZZero No, because it taught the GOP that the trick was not to get caught, never to admit to wrong doing, and if they did, they’d get off with a pardon. #politics
𝒀𝒆𝒔. The trial of Richard M. Nixon would have tied up the country for 1-1/2 to 2 years. Watergate had already consumed 2 years of congressional wheel-spinning. Forcing the rat-faced little shit to resign took from Nixon the only thing he ever loved: 𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓.
@sfleetucker Imagine if we lived in a world where leaders felt compelled to take actions and lead by the rules and laws they swore to uphold?
Because that America wouldn't of gotten Reagan and maybe a GOP choice that wasn't Neo-con trash that ushed in all this crap.
@countZZero There might be a case for pardoning him after he was indicted and convicted so that it was clear that nobody was above the law, but this Trump immunity nonsense is all because we didn’t set a clear precedent. #politics
