I couldn't even negotiate with my property manager to keep the rent rate they gave me in November because according to them "rates can change any month" like they were talking about a gym membership and not my shelter and roof over my head. Increasing rent $100 in 3 months (plus the 200 since 2022), apparently is absolutely normal. I keep thinking about the almost $150000 I have invested in this place, and now I have nothing to show for it (10 years!)

I keep hearing from our mayor here in Albuquerque and other cities about how they need to build "affordable" housing. Just what do they mean by that? If they're talking about what the federal government considers "affordable," well they can go fuck off because those numbers are bullshit.
