Got back from taking a kitty to the vet.Best guess is she has IBS, so, prednisolone for her for a month to calm down her flare. If that doesn't work, we have to change her food, which means we have to change everybody's food. 😫 🙏🏼 Hopefully the steroids work as I don't relish changing cat foods!

oh dear fur baby. 😢 I hope the Prednisone helps, though the side effects are nasty.

I'm having to feed Smitty in the bathroom now that he's on Hills Science and can't have any of the regular food I feed Maddie. Poor fella is constantly hungry, only gets 1/3 cup 2xs a day.

@see_the_sus poor Smitty, that is tough to be hungry all the time. 😿 I can't even get this kitty to eat in the bathroom by herself, she is too nervous...

@SandHillThicket

I fear that all of this is adding to his stress. The Prozac should be arriving, from Chewy, on Wednesday, which is a week from when I ordered it. I don't know why it took so long to get shipped out.
I've decided to forego putting a cone on him and instead, I'm going to buy one of those onesies but it'll need to cover his legs as well. I think that'll be much less traumatic than trying to walk around or jump up on the couch and bed with a big plastic cone around his neck.

@see_the_sus I've bought the onesies and the comfy cones (e.g., sunflower, orange slice, donut, etc.), but nothing beats supervision! We almost never wear cones here... 😬

@SandHillThicket

If he's on my lap and starts licking the areas where his fur is now thin, I'll put my hand over his body but I can't keep my hand there forever.

I wish I could watch him all the time but I'm having a hard enough time remembering to set a timer when I put him in the bathroom to eat. Too many times I walk away, get distracted, and then far too long later I hear him whining. 😞
If I try to feed them together, I can not look away for even a second. He'll go

right to her dish and push her away and I have to yell at him and then push him away, typically with my cane.

I decided tonight that I'm going to stop getting angry at him and Maddie when they get into their scuffles. He's a rambunctious critter whereas Mads isn't and she doesn't like him getting in her face. They rarely ever pull fur or draw blood and so I'm just going to let them duke it out. It's no good yelling at him and adding to his stress.

@see_the_sus I think you've got a good plan. I think sometimes we worry too much...😩
