I know sun isn’t good for records but about the only spot I have in my living room is here against the window. I keep the shade pulled 24/7 in addition to the curtain.

Soooo, am I nuts to think I can put my record collection, a metal two-layered rack, in front of the window?

This photo is how bright the sun is mid-day.

It's not good for CDs, either; those can also warp. I wouldn't put records on a metal rack in front of a sun-soaked window; that's asking for problems. The sun, by itself, might not get hot enough through the window, if the curtains are kept closed, but a metal rack will hold heat and reflect it onto those records and it won't be good. Remember that a window can act as a magnifying glass and focus heat, too, so it's probably not gonna end well if you put records in front of it.

The blinds and curtains are always closed because this window faces the alley where people walk by.

I get what you’re saying. I’ll have to put them next to the dining table. Drat.
