My finger is being an annoying piece of shit tonight right at the location of the stitches. I’m guessing it’s the skin going thru the healing-sealing up process, but I’d sure like for it to stop sending sharp stabs of pain. 😣
Uuuughhh, I know I know *whine* *grumble*
@see_the_sus
Have you tried 60-grit paper on a power sander? 😂 Bet you'd like to. I feel for you!
Within bounds of what the doc told you to do, of course, here are a couple of ideas.
Topical anti-itch ointment, ONLY if the skin has closed. Best is the kind with lidocaine, but hydrocortisone may help.
Ice. Never for too long. If skin is mostly closed but not enough for ointment or wetness, put the ice in a zip-loc.
For good measure, here's my latest stolen, random squirrel vid. 😊 🐿️
I had to read that first paragraph twice! 🤣 😝
Post-op instructions say no ointments, no soaking but I have been icing along with Tylenol.

😂 😂 😂 I couldn't resist! I figure sometimes a good chuckle does a person more good that sympathetic cliches. And a baby squirrel. 😊 🐿️
Hmm, you might try moderate elevation. Just keeping your hand at or slightly above heart level.
Best of luck easing the itching, my friend! 😊 🐿️
@see_the_sus ah yes the regeneration of the nerve phase....good and bad....if you're able to get to a cvs or Walgreens and head to the first aid aisle, look for the "-caine" family. My personal favorite is active ingredient benzocaine, usually sold as like boil salve or something. Don't put on open areas but you can put close too and it should help numb those nerve endings for awhile.
The post-op instructions said no ointments but I’ll re-read them. Thanks!
@see_the_sus yeah I saw that in your comments. They usually don't want ointments on there, correct, but, you can do a little away from the site, not directly on. The benzocaine seems to do a decent job of just dulling the pain if it's in proximity to the injury.
Okedokey, thanks! I’ll get some tomorrow.
@see_the_sus So many nerves in our digits. I feel for you.
@see_the_sus
It’s phase you will just have to endure, I’m afraid.
Sending you an imaginary hug 🤗
