DEI programs are where Black professionals careers go to die.

If you are Black and in HR, maybe you are safe. Every person I know (including Indian) who has participated in corporate DEI program has felt professional backlash. Black DEI consultants are often low balled.
If you want a successful DEI program, put a white senior executive in charge.

@asmitty Interesting position and one I can see. On the flip side--in the spirit of debate--would there be backlash from minorities about the appointment of a white executive? (Personally, best case there wouldn't be the need for DEI. Next best is it shouldn't matter who leads it.)

@scottlink it is a paradox. On one hand leaving things as they are creates a corporate sense of well being while the “volunteers” take on a second job with no reward and many face some retribution in their career. On the other hand, putting white executives in place might cause many to decry “what do they know?”
My feeling is only those who created the problem can fix the problem. I’ve seen those in the second group prove quite adept at getting results.

@scottlink and by the numbers, the primary beneficiaries of DEI programs in workplace tend to be white women and LGB in the last numbers I saw from 2021. I don’t recall trans seeing any benefits. I would share the links but it’s all out in Google from reputable sources.
