Have you ever been trying to collect a complete book series so you can start reading it and then discover one of the books you got is literally the 3 books combined in one??? I just did. Whoops?

@sarcasmsign: Affirmative. When that happens I figure they're just a spare.

@sarcasmsign

I had found a book at dollar tree, for $1. Then I discovered it was book 11 of the series. I refused to read it until I had & read all the others. Between ebay & half priced books I was able to complete the set. Wheel of Time

@sugar0addict I just started reading that this year. It's pretty daunting. So many books. I only made it through the first so far. Really liked it though!

@sarcasmsign I've done this but there can be a warning to this. Sometimes the omnibus has differences from the separately published books. The Illuminatus Trilogy is a good example. The hardcover collection is missing full sections from the books. 🤷‍♂️

@testamonk This one looks pretty complete. It's a fantasy series from the 80s that looks like fun. I got book 2 in a bulk lot of 12 random fantasy books on eBay. The whole 3 book series is called The Ballad of Wuntvor.

@sarcasmsign That's awesome! I have the Ebenezum Collection from him. I can assure you that it is much fun.

@sarcasmsign I really like Street Fighter comics, but there isn’t even a list. In Japan, they’ll put out 100+ volumes of something with identical spines for decades, but as soon as an American touches it, nobody knows what order these even go in.

@sarcasmsign so besides IDW’s insane release scheme, half of what I already own is in another city, some of them are floppies, so it’s really difficult to say “I’m going to buy this now” because all the tpbs are random. NOW the next problem is that the wiki editors concerned with “manga” take care of “the list” and seemingly don’t understand that this is a North American comic released by Americans, so ambiguity is not desired.
