As a person who was raised Catholic, it seems really weird that you'd have a democratic process determine church doctrine. I mean, relying on the supposedly-infallible word of a single person is also weird, but that seems less weird than e.g., "I dunno--what do you guys think?"

There's some irony too, in working to impose whatever this vote comes out to on the rest of the US, who don't get to vote here.

Raised Catholic & rejected notion of papal infallibility when I left church at age 21. No human (or cleric) is infallible.

Went to my parish priest for help with alcoholic husband. He told me to study the Catechism. I recited the first chapter from memory & walked out.

I often wonder how many are actually screwing other members of the congregation outside of their own spouse!
