Puttycat Update 🥹 It’s not cancer🩷 It is primary hyper parathyroid disease. An enlargement of 1 or more of the parathyroid glands that govern calcium and phosphorus use in the body. If untreated the dysfunctioning calls for extra calcium which is taken from the bones and deposited in the kidneys, muscle tissue and nerves… overloading the body with calcium and weakening the bones.
Surgery is the only option and is a cure.
Our Puttycat is 18 yrs old, has a heart murmur, high blood pressure,
1/2

2/2 and stage 2 kidney disease.
He had surgery 3 yrs ago to remove all his teeth and a cancerous growth at skin level and we were very worried about his ability to handle the anesthesia. He did well 🩷 In humans, this surgery is an out patient procedure.
My vet has never heard of a case of this in cats and has calls out to surgeons & other vets for info. She’s going to get back to me within the week.
I watched sad movies today to get my crying good and out. Please send good thoughts 🤗😻🤗
