In the US, partisans of both parties fear for the future of our democracy.
Democrats fear for it because Republicans have for years suppressed the vote, have passed a record number of bills giving them the power to disregard election results, recently made a violent coup attempt, and seem content to re-nominate the coup-plotter.
Republicans fear for it because their leaders & media lie to them about election integrity, and have trained them not to listen to anyone else.

@rpardee Democrats fear it because they're afraid people will notice they have been fleecing them and not doing their jobs properly and fire them.
Republicans fear it because it is antithetical to their authoritarian desire to control everyone else and have the power of life and death over others without any consent.
Dems are pickpockets, and Reps are arsonists and human traffickers.
D's want to take advantage of democracy. R's want to eliminate it.
