So if the federal gov shuts down, and then the trump quislings in congress depose McCarthy, then we're not just going to be hostage to GQP's ability to pass a spending bill, we're going to be hostage to their ability to elect a new speaker and *then* pass a spending bill. Is that right?

New speaker has to be elected before anything else can be considered.
I've seen conflicting info on whether air traffic controllers will get paid and/or keep working during the shutdown. Seems like that has potential to be a distinct pain point for the middle class...
(personal up-side for me is that I can stop working on the 2 presentations I'm on the hook for for a work trip in a week & a half...)
