some of my rock-n-roll heresies: I never liked led zeppelin or the who.
I also had any potential for enjoying the eagles burnt out of my by a dickhead college roomate who savagely overplayed whatever record "hotel california" is on.
Similar story w/Billy Joel. I know his stuff is good on an intellectual level, but have just been over-exposed (grew up on Long Island)
@rpardee Im with you on the Eagles. Hotel California just killed my enjoyment of the band in totality...
I also have never fancied the Rolling Stones.
@NiveusLepus ooh, we're gonna part company there. I do love me some stones. Second LP on Hot Rocks like a mofo...
@rpardee And that's fair! Music is something that's individual to everyone, but at the same time it ties us all together. In its purest incarnation it is an auditory expression of the soul.
@NiveusLepus so true!
@rpardee I was listening to Purple Haze on the radio during my drive home from a client's office last week, and I was struck by just how great the drumming is on that track.
@rpardee I have learned to respect and enjoy talented artists. Really opens up appreciation of all types and helps you find new music.
If you played 10 songs and asked me to name the artist I might get one right
But I know good music when I hear it
@rpardee
There is a long list of overplayed songs.
I'd like to gather up every single copy on every device around the globe and place them on a rocket ship set to blast off into the center of the sun.💥 🌞
My list is very long. Sigh
@rpardee Led Zep dislike is heresy. The rest I'm with you on...Except BJ being good.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN I mean... I do like that song they used in Thor for the big battle
But stairway to heaven? Ehhh
@rpardee
I'm a Zep fan and still I'm pretty 'meh' about Stairway. It's ok. @SECRET_ASIAN_MAN
@rpardee There's more to Led Zep than Stairway.
Omg, so much wrong with this post!
Led Zeppelin is my fave band of all time and Billy Joel is a national treasure!!
@Keep_Real heh--what can I say? I went from Disco/R&B over to New Wave & from there to alternative rock. Was not exposed to a lot of "classic rock" in any depth
@Keep_Real When Neil Young was in the news last year or so for standing up to some right-wing dickwad I made a particular effort to listen to his stuff. And I dug it while I was listening, though it's not in any regular rotation in my listening. But oh man do I *love* Built To Spill's version of _Cortez The Killer_
What part of Long Island, btw? @Ch3fchr1sto grew up there too.
@Keep_Real @Ch3fchr1sto Hempstead (home of Public Enemy dontcha know)
@rpardee Ummm.. Flava Flav is the son, Public Enemy #1. I iight know them. haha, YEAHHH BOYYYY. Stony Brook. Strong Island @Keep_Real
@rpardee Part of the story, but . . . how about a heretical *like*. I wouldn't expect "BAY CITY ROLLERS WERE THE WORLD'S GREATEST BAND!!!🤩 " . . . but what's your guilty pleasure?😏
@Marc_T_Benedict Hah! This comes to mind, but TBH I don't feel that guilty about it...
Hanson: Mmm bop

@Marc_T_Benedict Also--Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band--LET ME FINISH--the Bee Gees movie.
@rpardee Ooh . . . OK.😄
I agree with every word. I only like one song by Led Zep, and it's a cover.
That said, I would at one time have put Jimi Hendrix in the same "never liked" category. But one day I was hearing purple haze, or hey joe or something out in the world & it just smacked me upside the head. HOLY SHIT IS THIS GOOD
