@WestofMars still in Pittsburgh, no longer at Pitt-- after how I was abused at the university, and what I saw of the academic job market, I'd had enough. Got my PhD and got out. Thankfully the people who hurt me are all retired now, and I can actually mean it when I say H2P.
@riversidewings Glad you were able to get out, then. My son had first wanted to be a prof. Then he saw how hard his PI worked. We shall see where he winds up after his doctorate.
@riversidewings after having lived in japan for a stint and then reading your post i can see why you think of the sword every once in awhile. I'm so sorry he never sent the pic. :(
