They're orb weavers that are so similar to orb weavers that have always lived here that I can't tell the difference without being closer to a spiderweb than I prefer.
They "fly" the same way other orb weavers, do, as tiny babies, by holding out a little string of silk. They don't bite humans, and their venom is not dangerous to humans or domestic animals.
