@rakshy referring to Cameron but it was a mis post.
@Museek
he's just a person. some people or their ancestors were subjected to horrific events. others did not. he used a universal story and made a movie out of it. I hope the movie will inspire more respect to other cultures & the environment overall. am I missing something?
@rakshy just Indigenous perspective and you probably didn’t see his comments about Lakota kids or dead-end society.
@Museek
no, I didn't. can you throw a link to me? thanks!
This is what I saw. my daughter is the lineal descendant of the chief killed at Wounded Knee so it’s rather personal.
Even with genocide, disease and military weapons, we are still here and Custer paid for his sins.
@Thumprhare @rakshy all while he’s making bank whitewashing indigenous reality.
@Thumprhare @rakshy and people don’t understand what a burden it is to have to explain over and over again … it’s because of erasure.
@Museek thank you for the citation!
yes, I see it now. that is either an unsolicited opinion or a really poor wording. for what it's worth it can also be "they accepted a poor agreement and were cheated into a dead-end situation. if they knew what they would actually get, they would not accept it and fought more"
either way, it does not paint him in a good light. thanks again for sharing!
@rakshy btw.. there wasn’t “compensation” only to a few “friendlies”
The treaties were legally binding. They weren’t doing us any favors.
@Museek while we are at it and IF you have time - can you please recommend any books about your culture?
anything will do: folklore, myths, fiction or non-fic. past or present times. I've been fascinated by how diverse it was before Europeans came. it seems like a lot of hidden treasures and I want to know more.
@rakshy miss post.. sorry..
