They are never taken seriously. So: a) never properly trained, b) their needs are more often ignored.
If you have a 100 lb pup and he barks at the stranger once, you run to the trainer to make sure he doesn't slide into aggression
If a lapdog does that - people smile, laugh and think it's funny.
It's a stressful life for a small dog. I'm actually very sorry for them. They are real normal dogs, just unlucky to be born in a small body.
@rakshy They all defer to him. He runs the pack. But yes, he appears cautious about “outside” since even the birds are bigger than him.
