I lie in bed with my eyes closed and tell myself stories, the more involved the better. "The soldier who put death in a sack" is a good one, also the stories of Gideon and Jonah. Each becomes a well-traveled road -- I conk out earlier with each retelling. If I wake up again that night, I pick up at the last bit I remember telling. If I don't fall asleep, at least I'm entertained.
