Ate lunch with a friend in the small town where my grandma was born.

Saw a distant relative who's in his 80s and talked briefly. His grandparents and my great grandparents were siblings. A brother and sister married a sister and brother. Not quite inbreeding, but typical for that town. Most are descended from 1700s settlers. My ancestors are "newcomers" who arrived in the 1840s and 50s.

My great uncle (with fiddle, 1895-1990) would tell me stories of his grandpa George W. Parrott (1818-1907). It's amazing to me I have first hand stories of a man who would be 204 this fall. When my great uncle was naughty as a little boy he would hide under the bed. One time he'd done something bad enough that his grandpa and another person were armed with a poker and a broom to get him out from under the bed. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was up past 3 am working on family tree due to a major discovery. I am exhausted and can't figure out why I'm awake.

Does anyone on here have a subscription to Newspapers.com? I am wanting to read an obituary. Ancestry pulled data from it, but it's confusing.

A couple years ago I discovered a half brother through AncestryDNA. He was adopted and didn't know his birth parents. His father was established back then. Today I figured out who his mother was. Am happy to have solved what I think is the final mystery in my family.

Thankful Turkey
