I ask my Dr's at some point why they chose their speciality. Dentist's, and other dental professionals like periodontist's told me because that group is not regulated by medicare.
So they basically do not have fee caps placed on them by the U.S. and charge you for whatever insurance doesn't pay. A number of mine charge the fee up front so they get paid first and we get whatever the insurance deems adequate. Which is not much....
