@paxterrarum I used to recommend those to clients and employers and when (not if) they ignored my advice, I did _not_ use my own money to purchase them.

I have a strict rule that work pays for work things. I don't subsidize the companies I work for, they have to pay me, not the other way round.

@AskTheDevil I'm a sole proprietor, so I pay for all my own business equipment.

@AskTheDevil Yes. When I do taxes as a sole proprietor, business expenses are subtracted from gross revenue to get the business profit or loss. For 21 years, since I started in 2003, I've been reporting a profit, so that's good. But definitely track those expenses.

@paxterrarum I have to say, having worked both as a sole proprietor and an employee, I was happier and got more and better work done as the former.
