Netgear router log message:
"Self2WAN ICMP type b Detected!"
Does anyone know what it means? I can find all kinds of forums where people are guessing, but I can't find any definitive documentation.

@paxterrarum Reminds me of the title "Pwn2Own," a competitive event for hackers. Not what I'd name a legitimate piece of software.

AFAIK, if you power down the router and restart it, any unauthorized software installed on it will not remain. But it's been a few years since I encountered a router with malware on it.

@AlphaCentauri It shows up periodically in the router log, but that doesn't mean it's from the router itself. The strange thing, to me, is that there's nothing at Netgear's website that describes ANY of their log messages. ICMP has type codes, which are written as base ten numbers in the RFC. If "type b" is hex for "ICMP type 11," then I know it's some sort of timeout error, because that's what type code 11 is.
