A programmer's wife tells him: "Run to the store and pick up a loaf of bread. If they have eggs, get a dozen."
The programmer comes home with twelve loaves of bread.

I am no developer, but that is something I would do, so I drive the wife insane by double-checking the lists before going and huffing at all the things I’m told to get *in the wrong order for how it is laid out in the store*.

@stark @paxterrarum I always make the list in order of aisle. And if sending my husband will give approximate location by 4 foot section within the aisle, which shelf, and color of item.

It doesn't always help. 😕

@ChippySuave @paxterrarum

What triggers me is sweeping statements like “salad-y bits”. I don’t know what that is, and I certainly don’t like it bundled like that as I can’t tick off each item as I get them.
What if they are out of tomatoes? I can’t complete a “salad-y bits” entry if the shop’s out of tomatoes even if I could get the other 5-6 items insinuated.

I like precision, can’t help it. 😆

@stark @ChippySuave
Earlier this week my wife texted me a grocery list. It included, "cukes for salad." I called her, of course. "Cukes is plural. Do you ever put more than one cucumber in a salad? Are you making a really big salad?" She said it depends on the size of the cucumbers. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT SIZE CUCUMBERS DETERMINE HOW MANY A SALAD NEEDS????

@paxterrarum @ChippySuave

That almost calls for getting the three biggest cucumbers in the store, or one of the smallest possible, just to make sure precision is better next time. 😂

@stark @ChippySuave @paxterrarum

right? just make sure to get extra stuff to do with the cucumbers once the novelty wears off if you get lots.

@ChippySuave @stark
You may already suspect this...
but I won't ask a grocery employee where something is unless I've been hunting for it for at least a half hour.

@ChippySuave @paxterrarum @stark I just skip the list most of the time, and walk around the perimeter.

i'll go into aisles occasionally but most of the time i avoid it.

i get most of my produce, meat, paper stuff, most personal care and cleaning supplies all delivered to me anyway. So I just go in for dairy, eggs, maybe a couple other things.
