Hey, gang! I'm back after a brief SNAFU with my computer. In fact, it was AFU. πŸ˜‚ Screen strobing like a disco light. I thought at first it was driver-related after an OS update, but it runs deeper. Going to try Refresh/Restore.

In the meantime, I've decided it's time to take the plunge (back) into ! πŸŽ‰ I'm trying on the advice of my brother, and a couple of folks here.

And what, you ask, was my very first action in Linux? Logging in to CoSo, of course! :gippy: 😊 🐿️

@p3R1n01D I don't understand Linux or any of that computer-y stuff, but wondered why I hadn't seen much from you. πŸ˜ƒ

@BillieBun
Thanks for wondering! 😊 🐿️ Luckily I've been into computers one way or another since I was a kid. Still can't claim I understand them, easiest not to try. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚

@p3R1n01D I remember getting a computer that came with several instruction books - early 90s maybe. I thought I was interested in learning more about them..... for a while.

@BillieBun
Ah, those were the days! πŸ˜‚ I can't believe the changes I've seen in my lifetime. There was a point where I'd been out of touch with computers for so long I was worried I'd never catch back up.

I actually walked out of a Taco Bell once because the computerized ordering freaked me out! 🀣

@Horrrflmlvr
So far, I really like it! This is my first use of it, so far haven't done much more than CoSo. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚

I haven't even messed around with Linux in years, so I'm impressed at how easy it was to install it to a bootable thumb drive. From there, it sounds easy to install it to the laptop, it even creates a boot manager so you can keep Windows.

My brother has been messing with it, and I noticed a couple of people here. It's been around a good while, so is stable and robust!

@p3R1n01D @Horrrflmlvr Mint has been my daily driver for a long time, both at home and work. Enjoy!

@elric @Horrrflmlvr
That's good to know, thanks! Even before this issue came up, I was wanting to at least play around with Linux. Also already seriously considering the switch, Windows is just so bloated and weird.

@p3R1n01D
Good to see you Mike! Glad all is wellπŸ’›

@Esther
Thank you! 😊 🐿️ It was pretty freaky at first, but such a relief to know I had all of my work backed up. I had a few memes in Downloads, I braved the strobing screen to save those! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚

@p3R1n01D
It is a gut-sinking feeling to watch our computers go down. Yeesh, our lives revolve around them.
I like nature much better, but I’m too old to go live in a treeπŸ˜‰

@Esther
Times like that really drive it home!

LOL, I told my brother human kind never should have descended from the trees in the first place! πŸ˜‚

But yeah, I really like my electric toothbrush. πŸ˜‚
