Today we remember a day of great tragedy for the U.S.
More than 2,000 insurrections broke into the Capitol to overturn the election, assaulting 140 officers.
I honor the sacrifices of those officers in defending our nation's Capitol.
The true tragedy was not the violence, injuries, or even the five deaths.
The tragedy was the assault on democracy itself, the rule of law, and the peaceful transfer of power.
Never forget whose flag they flew!
