No Thanks to These 52 Dems, House Defeats Bill Enabling Trump Assault on Nonprofits

Legislation that would have handed President-elect Donald Trump sweeping power to investigate and shutter news outlets, government watchdogs, humanitarian organizations, and other nonprofits was defeated in the House on Tuesday

But 52 Democratic lawmakers apparently did not share the grave concerns, opting to vote alongside 204 Republicans in favor of the bill.

@TrueBloodNet Don't see anything with their rationale. The article only says that they didn't think it presents that much of a risk.

@nursefrombirth Weird that the Reps all wanted it though. Are they too afraid of what the Great Pumpkin will do?

@TrueBloodNet Yes, they wanted to pass the bill to give him sweeping power. Only one GOP voted against it. And 52 of our Dems voted with the other GOP to pass it. It was defeated, for now.

@nursefrombirth Wow. I will have to read up on it later via the interwebs. Thanks for the heads up!
