Every Day ~Today in Black History

March 1, 1780 ~ Pennsylvania passed β€œAn Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery,” which stopped the importation of slaves into the State, required all slaves to be registered, and established that all children born in the State were free.

While individuals who were slaves before 1780 remained in slavery, this was the first Act abolishing slavery in a democratic society. It became the model for abolition laws across the Northern states.

@nursefrombirth I love reading Black History posts. I love history in general but I feel like I missed a chunk of history growing up because so much of black history wasn’t covered. I’m pro Black history all year long, just like I love reading history magazines all year on tons of other areas. So love your posts!
