@Jene_Sais_Quoi May I suggest you tell yourself (for that part of you that needs to rationally address the trauma) something like, βI know this isnβt logical & I canβt get my body to listen, but I can address my body in ways my body understands. I can move through this trauma energy (exercise) and later I can reengage with safe people. Thatβs all I have to do right now to return to safety.β (This validates what youβre already experiencing as well as make space for the other self-care.)
This is sound advice, and while I don't tend to advocate the use of drugs (and ethanol is a drug), a glass of wine & a hot bath can do wonders, as well.
Engage in activities that comfort you. I...don't think this is psychologically bad advice.

Drinking is helping a bit... just to at least calm my nerves.
