Mistigram: this jazzy jam scene -- featuring a sexy saxman, some rhythmic hand percussion, a cool cat tickling the keys on a baby grand piano and vocal backup by birds and frogs already present at their outdoor stage -- was drawn with in by @kurogao96. It was included in the music-themed MIST0121 artpack collection.

@mistfunk That's pretty amazing. I remember doing something like that in 1973 as part of my seventh grade typing class. It's damn hard, especially when an error means you start all over.

@ThePsyOfLife typewriter art is indeed an important precedent to this strain of textmode art. Fortunately in the era of text editors, we are free to experiment with cut and paste! The emoji element adds another dimension as to a fixed width canvas, all the mini-pictures are merely additional characters that can be "typed" into place.

@mistfunk And, then there are all of the other fonts that will produce odd characters and shapes. It really is endless.

@ThePsyOfLife Another artist who worked in a similar idiom was (te)XTComics, whose work was very similar but more framed after western comic strips with gags: instagram.com/xtcomics/

@mistfunk I've followed XT. Found it quite enjoyable. La Petite Fille is a big fan.

@ThePsyOfLife Sadly the artist appears to have retired from that strip, but he left a substantial body of work before he threw in the towel!

@mistfunk I didn't know that. That's how closely I followed it. I'll ask La Petite Fille.

@ThePsyOfLife anyhow, if you like this stuff, the artist has more in this style for miles at instagram.com/kurogao96
