@Jezibaba There’s a wonderful book of hard truths named “Breaking The News” by James Fallows. The book is 25 years old and still predicted how the media undermines democracy. This was before the Internet, too!
TL:DR - Without incentives to tell the truth and create a transcendent sense of community, the media becomes what it has become today, a noise and outrage machine.
How does anyone build those incentives? I wish I knew.
