A Philadelphia breakfast in the Bay Area!
Poached eggs, grilled tomatoes, and homemade scrapple.

@singlemaltgirl Pork scrapings, corn meal, buckwheat, and spices, put into a mold, then sliced, and finally fried.

@singlemaltgirl Not common at all. The Pennsylvania Dutch (who were Germans, of course) made it famous in the Philadelphia region. It’s rare to see it this far away from the mid-Atlantic.

what does it taste like? can you liken it to something more common that we might eat? or is it just a unique taste all its own?
@singlemaltgirl It tastes like liverwurst or pâté and then fried to give it a little crunchy taste on the outside and soft on the inside. The frying is what makes it delicious for me - it totally changes the flavor palate.
