@meganpaasch It might be worth it to reach out to 1-2 of your bird app people & coax them over here to ease the transition. It might take multiple tries to get them to make a switch.
And some of them will re-find you here. Leave a trail of bread crumbs there then lock the account. If you 100% delete it, someone else can grab your handle & post as you, so delete most but not all of it.

@VDOVault @BarWebb I do worry, though, about my account also being hacked and taken over if I leave it up, and then not being able to do anything about it. I don't think I have a large enough follower base there to worry about someone stealing my handle after I've left, but it's hard to say. Neither option feels very good right now.
