Canola's Name Origin:
"Canola" comes from "Canada" and "oil", combined with "low acid." The name was coined in the 1970s to describe a new variety of rapeseed developed by Canadian scientists. It was bred to be low in erucic acid and glucosinolates, making it safer and more suitable for human consumption.
@Zevon But it is a monoculture cropt :( Just like all the trees that caused all those wild fires in Canada.

@matuzalem I only use cold-pressed organic olive oil, but that's just me. Lots of healthy oils out there to choose from. Have you ever been on the prairies and seen canola crops or rape seed? It's amazing to see these fields that stretch to the horizon. Once I drove an Alberta highway where I came around a corner on top of a hill and thought for a moment I'd come upon the shore of a great lake. It was a huge crop of something blowing in the wind. It was disorienting.
