I mean it, absolutely.
I know I lack a wider exposure --because CoSo is home--but I doubt there are many or any online places that aren't trying to monetize people in some way.
@Minholkin @th3j35t3r I miss the old days when there were tons of hobbyist/niche sites. Maybe there were ads, but those were just to support the site. I still run one that we opened in 2005. Most of the people have moved on, but a number check in every now and then to post/update folks. Commercial social media did it in, though. This place is a bit of a throwback to those simpler and more homey times.
I've heard folks comment to a similar effect over the years--CoSo has that old-school community feel but is enclosed in the most sophisticated and resourced vehicle :)
@Minholkin @th3j35t3r It has that “big board” feel of the days before “influencers”. More chatter from and among people, less of the positioning and posturing to monetize a personality or ego. The community feel comes from steady organic growth, not rapid influx of influencers with their entourage of followers and sycophants.
@Minholkin @th3j35t3r Here it’s quality over quantity. A larger user base focused on self-promotion is not a sustainable model in a user supported site.

It truly is a matter of quality here :)
