@FoxFire I'm so sorry. ๐ข ๐ My parents have been divorced for 40 years but my mother currently lives with me as she can no longer live alone. My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 4 years ago. My step mother placed him in a VA home about an hour and a half from where I live. It's so hard to see them this way but I can't imagine them not being here. I'm so sorry for your loss.

And while I joke about hoping I'm adopted....I know I'm not. My folks were great people. Imo, dying is hell, and dying of dementia is just as hard on the patient as it is on the caregiver. Why there wasn't a plan to just let us pass gently in our sleep, I'll never know. So, you take care of your mom, and the drive to see your dad is so long....do you take your mom with you? I offer you Love and Light, and an extra helping of Patience when the going gets rough.
