@redenigma I think I see what you mean. We are all “sinners.” The labels they tried to attach were not just inaccurate, like “sinner,” they were both untrue and hurtful and/or damaging. Is that essentially correct? @lisaannlm

@HopeSeeker @lisaannlm OTOH, the "diagnoses" went into my permanent record, along with some nonsense about not "upsetting" me. the big problem with that was i knew about it. that is not the kind of power to hand a teenager.

@redenigma @lisaannlm Good grief! When I was a child in a Catholic school, the diagnoses was singular. You did what the nun wanted, or you were clearly a SINNER. The Catholic Church has traumatized so many!!!

@lisaannlm @HopeSeeker my 7th grade guidance counselor told my parent's i was manic-depressive schizophrenic & they should institutionalize me. she was not, in any way, qualified to be making diagnoses (i was, in fact, autistic, but at that time it was thought only boys were autistic).

@HopeSeeker @lisaannlm my dad was very much less than impressed. she ceased to be my guidance councilor & in some discussion i wasn't privy to, it was decided that when i was overwhelmed (and that school was a sensory nightmare) i could leave class & go to the vice principal's office. no need to request permission from the teachers.
we had some lovely discussions about my then current prevarications, feline genetics & topology... some adults *like* meeting kids smarter than they are in areas

What sucks the worst is . . . this world was a gift to us, and we broke it
― Dean Koontz

The announcement gets close to verifying almost everything that has been previously reported about the incident: That, after breaking into telcos' networks, the entities – which have sometimes been labelled "Salt Typhoon" – compromised the wiretapping systems used for court-ordered surveillance; and that the snoops also targeted phones belonging to people affiliated with US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, along with Republican president-elect Donald Trump and VP-elect JD Vance.

People need to be aware Sinclair is a Trump leaning media corporation. Their content leans very much towards deceptive. They also have very bad practices particularly with stations in small markets. True story. They bought our local ABC station. They immediately insisted employees sign agreements that they would report in a Trump leaning way, not balanced. Those who protested or refused were fired. The station hasn't been the same since.

@wolfwoman 2/2 As for print and web news not a fan of the sloppy nature of some sources. For example, many are big fans of using anonymous sources. There's nothing wrong with that but you can't rely solely on that and they often overuse that. If you use anonymous sources you better be prepared to back up what those sources tells you with supporting evidence or other testimony. I am a big fan of Democracy Now on FSTV. Straight facts, good background context so viewers understand the issues.

@wolfwoman I have a journalism degree. I don't watch mainstream news channels anymore and view everything I read with a skeptical eye. When I was in school, my instructors used to hammer home the ideas of ethics and objectivity. I began to notice awhile ago that major news networks were leaning more towards commentary and less towards actual investigation and reporting. 1/2

As I prepare to turn on to watch Alex Wagner, I'm suddenly struck by what I read a few days ago. I hate to say it but they are a preference bubble and although I've read "alternative sources", I know they only ever have guests who align with "our" blue ideals. I feel a little lost. I mean, I won't stop watching them but I would actually like them to have differing points of view now.

Matt Fucking Gaetz as AG?! *tosses paper* And with that, damn, I am so glad I left the DOJ when I did.

@HopeSeeker @redenigma I got bullied by a toxic lay teacher. My mom got called to school because she was telling people I was disturbed. My classmates told her otherwise. I was pulled at the end of that year and went back to public school.

@lisaannlm @redenigma I wish I could say this surprises me. It doesn’t. I am sincerely sorry to hear about your experience.
