All silliness aside, if you know anyone in Ukraine or know anyone who knows anyone, this may be useful. It's website of ads of people providing free temporary housing to displaced Ukrainians. Each ad is vetted manually. Please do pass this along if you think it would be helpful.

#FUNFACT: You can't block anyone on https://post.news. And you can't DM anyone at all either. And they have their own 'tipping' currency but nobody knows what the 'exchange rate' is. And it's powered by 'OpenWeb' - which is a hosted, managed turnkey solution where they have VERY limited control and 'OpenWeb' have access to everything, including their users/data.
@th3j35t3r Okay. Thanks for the heads-up. And, thank you for making this a comfortable place to be.
"After last night’s bitter loss, the news of your passing set fire to my heart ... Some day the masks will fall, the truth will be laid bare ... This is not what our youth deserve. This is not what our nation deserves." - Saeid Ezatolahi, Iran national team on his childhood friend who was shot by Iranian security forces while celebrating Iran's loss to USA.
@DJNoneYa Wow! I always love reading a slapdown to Trump's outrageous claims.
It is the difference between soul and soulless.
@JDWalley @tizzymaii I thought it was, too. But today, I am seeing a provocative post by Ted Cruz. So much for sanity, huh?

I know that when you've been on a platform for years, made friends, built alliances and communities, leaving it can be very hard.
But it's good to remember that nothing is permanent; all things, good and bad, pass away. In their wake, new things are built. You can't recreate things that have disintegrated, but you can build new things that are as good or better.
@DavidSalo You're right. But, funny thing is, like the old cliche, you never know what you've got until you've lost it. I have so many good memories of people I've met and things I've seen, and learned. There is really nothing like it for immediacy of world happenings and people who are leaders. I'm not sure have you build something like that. Maybe as time passes counter.social will become more of what we've known.
@Cooperhawke Can't figure out how to send you an original message. Maybe you would have to go Pro, too, to get a DM. Anyway, I didn't read the book after Motherhood is Murder. Why? $7.99. First one was free. 2nd one was $5.99. That was my top for that series. $7.99 is $2 too much. Good writing, though.
That's what I'm thinking, too. It's a slow train wreck, but I think it is about to derail.
@mmpadellan Yes! This suggestion is good!
By the way, I'm a refugee from the bird site where I also followed you. Glad to see you here!
@LadyTaterTots Yes! I can relate to this. I thought it would be more peaceful after the presidential election. But, it is non-stop crises, bad news, attacks, threats, and so on every week. Sometimes every day. I've been told, don't think about it. If you can't change it, don't keep worrying about it. I haven't been able to follow that advice.
