@GlytchMeister I mean I do too, but I'll take people who are actually occasionally acting like Christians who call themselves Christians over Prosperity Theology fuckers anyday.
@GlytchMeister As long as we have swearings-in on religious tomes it's never going to be not a thing. I just kind of grin and bear it knowing I agree with the basic precepts of the teaching of Jesus (don't be a selfish dick). It's a culture thing, and it's dying out bit by bit. We will get there. Humans still need their woo for comfort.
@GlytchMeister The problem is just enough of the country is still som invested in the god thing, or believes they should care about it, that going full non-theist isn't going to fly... yet. Really it should be a 100% personal thing that should never come up, never be highlighted, or made into any kind of litmus test. That is what true freedom of religion should look like. We aren't there yet.
@lilibat
Same here.
But I can be glad to have Biden and still support him in broad strokes and yet also be critical of the overt Catholicism on display at the Capitol today.
Is it really too much to ask for a religion version of the Hatch act? No campaigning on federal property, no egregious religiousness on federal property?
If he had had his inauguration ceremony ceremony literally anywhere else, I wouldn’t be irritated. He could have had it in a church for all I care.
