When I was little I bit my dad, and my mom told me not to bite people because I could get AIDS. Me being small, I didn’t know what AIDS was and for many years thought she had said “spades”. When I finally figured it out and told her I had thought she said spades for like twenty years, it turned out that neither she nor my dad remembered the incident at all.

Another trick I learned from a local, this one for going fishing (and other outdoor adventures): use Victoria's Secret Amber Romance body mist to keep the bugs from biting you. For some reason, mosquitos hate it.

I don't like crawfish but I learned a neat trick yesterday from a local who does: after peeling them yourself, add salt to the soap when you wash your hands to get rid of the smell.

I finally twisted my ankle far enough to pop the joint, after 10 weeks. It was exquisite.

The hardest part of knitting is waiting for a blocked project to dry. The second hardest part is waiting for a gauge swatch to dry. Though if I’m being honest, I rarely wait for the gauge swatch to be dry before I measure it.

I finished my sweater and blocked it, and now I just have to wait for it to dry (which I expect to take at least two days). I don't have the yarn for my next project yet so I feel sort of at a loss.

Today I’m thankful that my parents gave me a really good intuition for spotting bullshit disguised as truth, even when I can’t readily pinpoint why I suspect it’s bullshit.
