Coffee test 2020-06-03:

I'm trying Organic Drago blend with Amoretti pistachio syrup again today. Previous tests have left me with a queasy stomach. This time, I'm using Coffee Tamer. It does seem to be going down easier. Much less gas, pretty much zero queasiness. Recommended.

Amoretti Experiment #4: Pistachio + Medium Roast

I've loaded up the faithful Organic Drago espresso roast from Fresh Roasted Coffee, a medium roast, and brewed up just a cup on the Keurig settings. Two pumps of Pistachio syrup went in, and the results were better than yesterday: clean, nutty, not too sweet, no aftertaste. A near-perfect addition to a good cup of coffee. Highly recommended.

Amoretti Experiment #3: Pistachio

This morning, I've brewed up a mug of illy Extra-Dark Roast from the Keurig and put 3½ pumps of Amoretti Pistachio Syrup into it. The result: clean, nutty pistachio taste., perfectly sweet (okay, maybe a tad too sweet - just back off a ½ pump), with no weird aftertaste. Not an overpowering flavor, just well balanced. Highly recommended.

Amoretti Experiment 2: Kirsch

I have Fresh Roasted Coffee's Organic Drago espresso roast in the Keurig today. Tried the same 2+1/2 pumps that worked with the illy - too strongly flavored. Started over and used 2 pumps. That came out underflavored and not sweet enough. Obviously, the Amoretti Kirsch flavor is very twitchy when combined with a lighter roast. Worth it if you want to fine tune the mixture, based on what I got with the extra-dark roast.

Amoretti Experiment 1: Kirsch

I've brewed up a cup of illy Extra Dark Roast and added the recommended 1+1/2 pumps of Kirsch (German cherry schnapps) syrup. The result - not sweet nor flavorful enough. Added 1 more pump - bingo. Sweet, cherry flavor, not artificial, no "cough syrup" taste. Very pleasant in extra-dark coffee. No aftertaste. Recommended.

This is the full-sugar version I'm testing, BTW. Not the sugar-free. Next test will be with a lighter roast. See you Monday!

THE AMORETTI SYRUPS HAVE ARRIVED!

I think I'll have a mid-afternoon cup of kirsch coffee to celebrate.

The Amoretti syrups are a bit more expensive than then Torani syrups, but if their labels are correct, you use less of them (1 1/2 pumps vs. 4 pumps). I believe both bottles are 750ml in size.

Hello, fellow coffee lovers! I just wanted to take a moment to say I'm getting back into the coffee flavor experimentation business.

I've ordered flavors from Amoretti (amoretti.com/) this time around. One bottle of pistachio syrup and one bottle of kirsch syrup. Both sound delightful.

It may take a while for them to arrive, as the company is located in locked-down California. I will report as soon as I receive them.

Glad to be back!

Coffee experiment time again! In the cup: illy extra dark roast, plus four pumps of Torani Vanilla Puremade Syrup and two packs of Coffee Tamer (I've had bad reflux lately).

I have a feeling this is going to be another bottle where 5 pumps are going to be needed to get the right taste. Four pumps of this vanilla gives the right sweetness, but barely any vanilla flavor. I'll report back when I get a chance to try 5 pumps.

New experiment! Just received a bottle of Torani Sugar-Free Chocolate syrup. Trying it with the "Wake the Hell Up!" brand cannoli-flavored coffee.

Quite an interesting mix. Tastes very much like a cannoli with chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. No "off" flavors. Very nice. Recommended.

Follow-up: The caffeine rush is strong with this one. "WtHU!" brand cannoli-flavored coffee slips in an uppercut of caffeine when you're not looking and knocks you wide awake.

And that's coming from someone wearing an anti-nausea patch for medical reasons. Wow.

Today's test cup: "Wake the Hell Up!" brand Cannoli-flavored coffee.

There's definitely a toasty component. Also a slight creamy sensation which blends with the creamer I use. Not quite the sense of the sugary confection I'm used to, but still a tasty cup. No bitterness to speak of.

I'd say it's a toss-up between today's cannoli-flavored and yesterday's pistachio-flavored brews. Now, just waiting to report on the caffeine kick this "hyper-caffeinated" coffee has.

Update: a little bit of a sneaky caffeine rush from the "WtHU!" pistachio coffee. It's cleared a cobweb or two from my braincage.

First up in the test cup: "Wake the Hell Up!" brand pistachio-flavored coffee. One caveat: the box has statements saying there are no nut allergens, so all of the pistachio taste has to have come from artificial sources.

Getting a sort of woody vibe from this (mind out of the gutter). Definitely unsalted. More of a pistachio cream taste. Slightly bitter at first, but you get over that quickly.

All in all, not bad. I'm kinda groggy, so I'm waiting for the caffeine rush.

Joy! Two new coffees for experimentation! Both come from the "Wake the Hell Up!" brand. One is Cannoli flavored, while the other is Pistachio flavored.

As with the "Jamaica Me Crazy" flavor, both are a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans in the K-Cup. You'd never know it from the initial taste of the Cannoli (more on that another day) - it's plain good coffee, quite drinkable despite not being 100% Arabica.

Full reports to come.

BTW, I'm out of Torani syrups. They were fun.

@altamaha Are you feeling better today? My coffee cup stands at the ready to assist you. 😜

I'm almost out of the "Wake the Hell Up!" brand "Jamaica Me Crazy" blend K-Cups. I'll need a new K-Cup to test after that. Any suggestions?

Haven't had breakfast yet, but I'm sure as hell having coffee. "WtHU!" brand "Jamaica Me Crazy" blend with Torani Sugar-Free Irish Cream syrup. Good for what ails ye.

Thank the maker for good coffee. It lessens the blow of a dishwasher leak that's making our kitchen floor buckle. With a thousand dollar deductible, insurance isn't going to be much help - it'll be some, but not much. 😭
