Tasting History: What Did WWII Soldiers Eat?
SOS,. a.k.a. Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast
@Tarpeachy Stouffers sells the stuff in a microwaveable bag - my wife and I love it. We stock up on it.
My 82nd Airborne daddy made this for us. We loved it. Still order, in his honor, when I find on a breakfast menu.
@leejackson when I was drafted in 1969, I ate SOS for the 1st time in my life. We Hawaii guys loved it! When I got out 2 years later, I missed it bad. But good news, 32yrs later, a member of my old Vietnam combat unit had a recipe and shared it with me. My kid who served in the Coast Guard loved it too and made it all the time for his buddies when they were off duty in the Bay Area. Everyone loved it.
@leejackson My mom made SOS for me growing up in the 80s!
