Okay people of CoSo I need some advice, please & thank you in advance!π
My mom just had her Total Knee Replacement surgery. She's got the walker & a few things the Red Cross are loaning her, but it's not been enough. She is in tears from the pain frequently & I need some ideas for affordable solutions to some of her problems. She struggles lifting her leg to get into & out of bed when I'm at work. She's using a cane upside down to lift her foot, but it's bad with her arthritis in her hands.
..
I'm doing what I can, but I work full time closing shifts & I'm the only one she can rely on. It breaks my heart to see her in so much pain knowing I can't afford the fancy ramp cushions or at-home pulley devices that would be extremely helpful. Any ideas would help! If I don't reply, it's because I don't know how to get notifications on the Android app. But I do check back when I can to read!
@Heavymetalmotherindisguise they gave her tramadol, which just gives her the shakes and doesn't really numb the pain. It's considered a lower risk for addiction, so it's the go-to for doctors to treat for this.
We are trying, she's calling the doctor every day when I'm at work, but it's hard to find any help here
@lacuda Why aren't the doctors giving her pain medication?! When my grandmother had her knee replacement surgery, they sent a physical therapist several days a week to work with her. I don't recall needing any kind of special equipment to help her recover maybe a walker for the first few days. Call the doctor. π
