Tens of thousands of Louisiana students are in unapproved diploma programs that have no requirements:

@OldDude71 Not for the students or the state of Louisiana, but it is going swimmingly for the grifters who get free money from it.

@koavf Sure. Delaware doesn't enforce any homeschooling rules at all. I know a couple of kids who were pulled out of school before 2nd grade, got no education, and were never checked on. Even after other family members alerted CPS and other authorities.

@cmajuscula I know of at least one similar case as well. :/ I find it really sad because this is another classic example of right-wing authoritarians and kooks ruining something that could actually be appropriate for some children. I would love to unschool my kids with like-minded parents in a co-op, for instance.

@koavf I do know a couple of families who very successfully homeschooled, but in both cases, they had SAHMs with some education training (and a lot of money). For kids with a lot of medical or psychological issues it can be great, but very few parents can do it.

@cmajuscula Yeah, the ones who do it well also _actually do it_. There is a reason why teaching exists as a profession.
