Heat pumps are misunderstood and are likely to be a very economical and practical solution for home heating: carbonswitch.com/do-heat-pumps

@koavf no, i'm curious to learn more. if the scands are doing it, & they have winter for long periods of time, i'm wondering why we couldn't.

the cost savings wasn't as significant to really justify the cost at this point. but it's interesting.

i can't actually make a change where i am. we have baseboard heating in the building & i don't have the option to convert that.

@koavf oh thx for asking :)

i am moved in. almost everything is unpacked. the bathroom is being renovated in the next couple of months.

but i have to replace a lot of the furniture that was damaged by the movers. so that will take some time. i got a new frame & the next purchase is a new dining room table. other things will have to wait till i can save up for them.

scathing review of the moving company coming soon. they were the worst i've ever had.

@koavf aw shucks. thank you. i'm good. i appreciate the offer, tho 😊

@koavf A year and a half ago, I put a Mr. Cool in the barn. It's insanely efficient -- the house is 5,000 sq. ft. and we didn't turn on the main A/C all summer. It's fine in winter, but my wife doesn't like the way the air blowing out feels cold, so we have to run the electric baseboards, too.

@JoeHoffman Nice. Thanks for the anecdote, as I am totally ignorant about brands.

@koavf Best part is, it fit into the back of my Subaru, so no shipping costs. And while it can be installed DIY, I got a guy to do it because I know my limitations.
