*cracks knuckles* successfully replaced the dying SSD in my laptop with a new, larger one. Cloned it and everything.

The sticker on the old SSD says it was installed on 2019/10/23. 4 years minus one day ago,

That went much faster than the RAM upgrade a few months ago since I now know were all the sneaky screws are. Yay, go me! #cosocomputersupport

Update:

I tried a native screen saver (3D Text), set a 30 minute delay and waited. Now I can't get onto the comp remotely - same grey screen as before.

Apparently you cannot turn on a screen saver for your Win11 machine and then use Remote Desktop.

Guess I'll be doing some more trial-and-error testing this weekend.

FYI, and YMMV, but I was having issues getting Chrome Remote Desktop to connect to my (now involuntarily) Win 11 laptop, as all I'd get was a grey screen. No extensions blocking, etc.

Turned off the screen saver I've been using for 24 years and now I can connect.

I'm positive that the screen saver is no longer supported (or if it is, it's up thru, like, Vista) so I'm sad to have to stop using it.

If anyone is having the same issue, try that. Worked for me.
