Lest we forget, the Dem Party was the party of racists, even though Truman integrated the military services. LBJ lost the racists (open ones for sure) when he signed the Civil Rights & Voting Rights acts. LBJ "said at the conclusion of the signing ceremony when he turned to a friend, or maybe an aide, and said, “I think we just delivered the South to the Republican Party for a long time to come.”

As a retired teacher, some ppl in general to "get it".
