why was hurricane Nadine renamed to Kristie after it hit the Pacific?

@redenigma Cuz Atlantic and Pacific storms have different name lists.

@kismatt ah, i thought that might be it, but i also would think a storm would keep the name it started with. do they cross over very often?

@kismatt no wonder i never noticed about the name change before then. i don't feel so silly :)

@redenigma Oh, don't feel silly! I believe the name changes as it crosses the Pacific as well - typhoons on the western Pacific that started as eastern Pacific storms have name changes as well. Only about a dozen or so have made it all the way across the Pacific, tho.

@kismatt so... what is the policy on deadnaming hurricanes? if i call Kristie "Nadine" does my liberal stormchaser license get revoked?

Follow

@redenigma lol. No, but all the Pacific data will say Kristie.
